Hanbury - Head Complaints} 261. Big end Failure - Customer's Car - John Hutton Chassis B.47.HM{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} We examined this unit which was returned from Kingsbury. It will be remembered the big end bearing failed in something under a 1000 miles running. Examination indicated that the bearings had been short of oil and this was confirmed by the fact that a piece of foreign matter was found lodged under the relief valve, which would probably cause a serious loss of oil pressure. In our opinion, in view of the fact that this was a new engine, the loss of oil pressure was the cause of the big end failure. Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} | ||
