X.543. 86027. Extract from R4/W18816. .X.152.-RE LUCAS "KING OF THE ROAD" DYNAMO. It was agreed that all these cars should be fitted with electric self-starters, the same as on 7CA, but constructed for six volts, which voltage was found quite satisfactory on the Peerless starter. That we obtained from Lucas' a slow speed dynamo and suitable switchboard for this voltage, which will permit of ample diameter of belt pulley, and generate sufficient current for the lamps at a speed of 15 miles per hr. or less. This will represent a dynamo which cuts in at a speed of 750 r.p.m. or less i.e., belt pulley ratio of not more than 1.5 : 1. In the starting equipment, the whole of which it is agreed we make, except the batteries, the winding will have to be modified for the six volts, and twice the current and the magnetic switch for the new pattern, and single brass button, should be made up at once, so as to be proved thoroughly before manufacture commences.
