RE "GOSHAWK". X4219

E2/G8/10/21.

X4228 X.4387 We are proceeding to design a pilot jet for the "Goshawk" carburettor fitted with an automatic valve somewhat on the principle of the starting carburettor, of which you sent us a model.

We are also designing a silencer for this carburettor to bolt on to the main jet and extra air intakes.

The remainder of the control gear is in hand for the "Goshawk".

X4233. We are dealing with the wheelcase for future engines, and shewing a revised method of lubrication for the gears, whereby the discharge from the oil pump will not flood the gears with oil and cause noise at starting.

We are making the oil blow-off valve adjustable.

We are sending you a modified valve spring washer intended to be made from bar always.

X4085 We are redesigning the wheel carrier where it requires attention.

X4272 We hope to put the undershield in hand very shortly.

X4237 We shall very shortly send you an alteration to the fan pulley required by the change in the slipper drive, and at the same time we are putting up the size of the fan somewhat, as Mr. Royce thought the one he saw on "Goshawk II" chassis was too small.

X.4383 X.4421 As it was found impossible to accommodate the cut-out on the dynamo, we are enlarging the distribution board to include the cut-out. We therefore expect the dynamo terminals to be of the type shewn on the dynamo drawing, but will confirm this later. The chassis wiring will be dealt with later.
