Re: CHASSIS N° B.179.AE - Mr. F.{Mr Friese} EDMOND-BLANC

With reference to the third paragraph of your memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/KW.24.I.35, we have now looked into the question of the loose bolts holding the 5th cross member (front engine mounting) to the side members.

We found the nuts of the K.456 and KA.310 bolts to be slack, varying from I/2 a turn to a turn. The slackest were those that also hold the shock absorbers in position (top bolts). You mention in your memo that you think "these bolts are used for holding wing stays". We think there may be a little misunderstanding, because the heads of most of the bolts are located behind the front dampers and therefore could not, we think, be used for holding a wing stay.

We did not examine the bolts for "stretch", but simply tightened them up. Should we come across any similar occurrence, we will report the matter to you.

We also found the F.I00744 front damper supports to be slack on the frame.
