-4- Ha/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}12/KM.29.1.36. Springing. The car rode very hard on the front with minimum control. We disconnected the control to the front dampers, which improved the ride 50%. The car was inclined to pitch, however. This was prevented by using medium control to the rear dampers, which did not spoil the riding of the car. The riding qualities of 8g's car were 50% better than 21-G-IV. Brakes. The brakes were effective and quiet in operation. We carried out maximum braking tests at high speed to see whether the servo came up to its stop with the correct lever fitted to the swinging arm. This did not occur, the braking being very effective. A front brake thump developed, which was found to be due to the loss of the friction plates on the swinging arm. The nut held by the tension of the spring pad apparently became unscrewed, finally dropping off. Ha/G.W.Hancock. | ||
