FW/JS{Mr Johnson's Secretary} Expl. Dept. 30th June, 1931. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter of June 25th sent to our Works at Cambridge and Mr. Collins reply to you of the 26th, we regret that we are unable to supply one of our Rotational Accelerometers on hire for a fortnight as these instruments are only supplied to firm order. The apparatus is not such a very expensive one, when one bears in mind the work it does and the fact that it has given very good results under varying conditions. We are, of course, perfectly willing to guarantee it in every way and, if you so desire it, would be willing to supply an instrument on the understanding that you could satisfy yourselves fully on this point before making payment. Regretting that we are unable to comply with your request on this occasion: [Stamp: RECEIVED 2 - JUL 1931] We are, Yours faithfully, for CAMBRIDGE INSTRUMENT CO. LTD. [Signature] Director. ENCL.
