Hoo? SECRET. To Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} (Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}) c. Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/les.{Ivan A. Leslie} BENTLEY V.{VIENNA} (50 SHOW CHASSIS). Referring to Roy.{Sir Henry Royce}2/P.13.3.39. we note that at the moment only 3% of the orders for Material have been placed out of 57% issued by the Drawing Office. The position is very alarming considering that it is over 3 months since many of the sections were issued, and this delay which has occurred in the Order Office will only result in considerably increasing the Cost of producing the Chassis, as it will now be necessary to work excessive overtime in the Machine Shop to complete manufacture in accordance with the programme. It would have been far more economical to have proceeded with the parts as they were released, so that it would only have been necessary to have made a special effort on such sections as the Gearbox etc., which are not yet released, whereas we shall now have the whole of the Chassis to produce in the space of a few weeks.
