FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL "SS{S. Smith}" - STATE OF DESIGN WORK. X2917 X7770 As regards putting the first completed chassis on the road for test purposes, as far as 'CamachaHenry Royce's office in West Wittering' is concerned, the instructions are complete with the following exceptions: (1) HEAD LAMPS & BRACKETS.) Differ from Phantom & EAC.7. (2) FRONT WING STAYS. } because of the new cross (3) FRONT NUMBER PLATE. } member arrangement in front. (4) RUNNINGBOARD BRACKETS. EAC.7. can be used but special brackets are required for the bodies now ordered. (5) FRONT FLOORBOARDS. (6) FINAL ARRANGEMENT OF DASHBOARD. The casting is EAC.7. but the fittings on the dash require finally arranging. Derby are settling the dash out & sending us a print for approval and final revision. (7) CONTROLS ON DASH. These are the same as EAC.7. but the final position requires settling. We are awaiting the dashboard arrangement from Derby. (8) CENTRALISED LUBRICATION OF STEERING PENDULUM LEVER BALL END. On account of the new mounting of the steering column the lead to the pendulum ball end requires some revision, but is similar to Phantom. Since the first car was instructed there have been a number of improvements suggested, and the following are either now in progress or have to be done to perfect the chassis up-to-date, but they are not necessary to get a chassis on the road for test : (9) TWO WHEELS & LUGGAGE AT REAR. (10) TWO WHEELS & BOX AT REAR. (11) REVISED PETROL TANK FOR ABOVE. (12) REVISED GROUPED INSTRUMENTS. (13) REVISED & LOWERED CONTROL LEVERS ON TOP OF STEERING COLUMN. (14) BATTERY BOX SUSPENSION REQUIRES SLIGHT REVISION TO SUIT NEW BODIES. (15) STARTING HANDLE CARRIED UNDER BONNET. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
