Policy for handling repairs and spare parts for chassis fitted with non-standard front wheel brakes.

Hallam - Head Repairs} Re Front Wheel Brakes not of R-R Manufacture. ----------------------- You recently raised the question of what action should be taken when you received requests for repairs or for the supply of spare parts in connection with chassis to which the owner has had fitted front wheel brakes which are not of our manufacture. Our difficulty about calling these "bedevilled" cars and having nothing to do with them is that we ourselves refuse to fit front wheel brakes. We think that in any case, because of the fitting of front wheel brakes we cannot refuse to supply parts and carry out work on that part of the chassis which is not affected by the front wheel brakes. In each case, however, we should write to the owner setting out that we have noticed that his car has been fitted with front wheel brakes which are not of our manufacture and therefore we cannot take any responsibility in connection with any parts which, in our opinion, are affected by this alteration, nor can we supply any parts or carry out any work on such parts as have been altered for the fitting of front wheel brakes.
