VACUUM PUMP. The oil exhausted from the vacuum pump passes into the carburetter intake, and as it is not all absorbed via the intake, a considerable quantity drains out through the carburetter drain pipe. This is blown all over the engine and we feel that complaints will arise from customers. It also puts up the oil consumption considerably. A test taken on 22-EX shewed the amount of oil passed by the pump exhaust pipe to be 1 1/2 cu. ins. in 30 mins, at 800 r.p.m. We think that it would be satisfactory if the pipe were led direct into the crankcase adjacent to the pump. | ||
