Golf Hotel, Valescure, St.Raphael. 10.2.26 My dear CJ., I thought you would like to know that the R.R. came down here v.well. But you should know that the attachment of the hind shock absorber to the axle has worked loose. The rivets 2 or 3 have pulled out and rattle badly. I am having them taken out and new put in of a rather larger size, which is the best I can do here. I don't think the rivets are strong enough for their job esp. over the rough roads and pavé of France. So far as I can make out we averaged abt. 14 m.p.g. or a trifle more, but the going was heavy in places and we did some new routes, where climbing was rather stiff at times. I have had a small shutter fitted in the dash board close to the exhaust manifold which is v.{VIENNA} pleasant on a cold day and warmth comes in and comforts one's feet, quite a gadget to add in an open car. Hooper's bodywork has stood v.well better than any I have had before or seen, no rattle anywhere. If Hanbury would like to see the failure of the rivets on the shock absorber, let him come here and lunch with me one day. Yrs ever, (Sgd) John M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} (Lord Montagu of Beaulieu) [STAMPED TEXT] RECEIVED 12 FEB 1926 He | ||
