To BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} c.EP. {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} [Handwritten] X 3445 EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 6/T4.4.24. X.3445 - IGNITION COIL No.3414. EX CHASSIS 44-G7. We have now made tests on this coil. The coil was at first O.K. with the exception that on the open circuit production test it showed slight signs of distress in the form of a partial secondary breakdown. This at first was not sufficient to impair the sparking of the coil on the ordinary bench test. However, this would be sufficient to prevent it from passing the production test. Therefore the coil was subject to a second open circuit test and on this test it broke down completely. No doubt there was a slight incipient fault in the coil which would not come out on an ordinary sparking test, but it was no doubt the cause of the trouble on the car. We return the coil herewith.
