| SECRET. GRY{Shadwell Grylls} X 312 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from HDY.{William Hardy} HDY.{William Hardy}1/HP.26.2.35. c.c. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Ds. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Clutch. Further to Hdy.{William Hardy}1/HP.22.2.35, which refers to the use of blank serrations in the helical splines of the clutch operating shaft, an alternative would be to use six castellated in which case no blank would be necessary. The choice seems to us to depend upon the costs of manufacture. We have also been requested by the Experimental Department to provide slots in the operating levers so that the operating shaft can be disengaged from the thrust bearing housing as on the 20/25. We are not sure that this can be applied without any other alterations and so until we have time to investigate this point we are unable to say what has to be done. HDY.{William Hardy} | ||
