FE CONDENSERS FOR 40/50 HP. CHASSIS

Confirming my conversation with you this morning, the position regarding condensers is very bad and will require extreme efforts to avoid delay. I am satisfied that we should not attempt to deliver any chassis with the condensers as originally designed, and the design forwarded by Mr. Royce and which reached Derby yesterday afternoon, appears to be so good and one which lends itself to quick manufacture, that I think we should concentrate on putting this into production forthwith, and stopping all work on the original one. The detail drawings for the production of the first sets to Mr. Royce's design are being prepared by Mr. Day, and we will arrange as suggested by you, that 20 sets shall be made in the experimental department under Mr Hives' supervision.

Copies of Mr. Day's drawings will be put through the Production Drawing Office in the usual way. Advanced information is to be sent through for the slight modifications which are necessary to the dies for the Mica and Tinfoil plates. These dies are at the moment only in the roughing out stages, and the alteration as far as this is concerned will not, I think, cause any delay. I have every hope that we shall be ready with 20 condensers in time to avoid delaying delivery of chassis. that is I am glad that you agree with this policy, as I feel
