X.7560. BODY LIGHTING AND CIGAR LIGHTING CONNECTIONS. X.7741.

The accessory distribution box on the dash conveniently provides connections from either side of the ammeter to accessory apparatus placed on or in the neighbourhood of the dash. In the case however of accessory apparatus within the body demanding supplies of current from either side of the ammeter, such for instance as body lighting on the one hand and cigar lighting on the other, where we have extremes of small continuous currents and large intermittent currents, even the newly standardised arrangement of accessory distribution box with two supplies does not appear to cater conveniently unless a three wire extension from this box is provided for to a three terminal junction box or a pair of two terminal boxes in the body.

We have at present body lighting junction boxes on the frame providing for immediate connections to the body lighting but we have no corresponding junction boxes providing for immediate connections to cigar lighting equipment within the body, and if the body lighting is arranged to be taken from the terminal on the accessory distribution box which permits the body lighting current to flow through the ammeter it is not satisfactory to connect the cigar lighting equipment to the same junction box on the frame. This of course, could be overcome by making the body lighting connection to the terminal on the accessory distribution box in direct connection with the battery (i.e. bye-passing the ammeter) but it is considered more desirable to retain the body lighting current shewn on the ammeter in which case a further provision for cigar lighting is necessary.

We should be pleased if you could give this matter attention with a view to arranging for a generally satisfactory system.
