| SECRET E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/MN.5.9.35. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copy to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} RHO. SpectreCodename for Phantom III - Bonnet Locks. As it was impossible to obtain the final design of bonnet lock for the SpectreCodename for Phantom III already issued to you, viz:LeC 4656, we have found it necessary to produce a provisional design using the lock barrel of the 25 H.P. switch lock. The original of this design LeC 4681, has been detailed by your Dept. late one evening due to the emergency, and we are now issuing it to you for final records. We understand that bonnet locks will be required on the three Demonstration Cars and the nine Olympia dummy chassis. We have made this temporary lock so that it may be replaced at a subsequent date without drilling the bonnet. In the case of the three Demonstration Cars, 33-EX, 34-EX and 35-EX we are modifying the locks to take the same key as used for the ignition lock, but on the dummies we are not suggesting that this extra work is necessary. The bonnet locks can have an individual key. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
