84094 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}11/AD. November 28th, 1932. The Adamant Engineering Co.Ltd. Dallow Rd. Luton. For the attention of Commdr. Matravers. Dear Sirs, We have now carried out a number of road tests on your steering. On the whole its behaviour is very satisfactory. One fault, as I feared, is that the overall ratio is considerably lower than our own steering which rather detracts from the possibility of making an accurate comparison between the two types. Another point is that there is a certain amount of slack in the cam and follower which shows up particularly in the central position. The low gear ratio may accentuate this. The car will shortly be going to London and we should like to take the opportunity of getting our men to call in at your place in order that you can try the steering and see the fault of which we are complaining. Possibly you would like to fit the higher gear ratio to the box. However, we shall be able to discuss this after you have tried the car. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
