Re Clocks.

In response to R's request (conveyed to me in yours Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/LG14.2.22), I am sending you herewith 3 rods of "Permant" steel, each .187" dia. and 40" long.

This steel was formerly sold as "Invar" steel, but has for some time been sold as "Permant". It is supplied by Firths to Messrs.Gillett & Stevens for pendulums.

The price is 4/- per lb. and Firths have rendered an invoice amounting to 4/3d.

The rods are somewhat bowed, which may be due to rolling or may have occurred in transit. Perhaps you will decide to straighten the rods before they are forwarded to R.{Sir Henry Royce}

Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}

3 Rods herewith.
