-4- They are now flirting with using torsion shafts for the main spring instead of coil or leaf springs. [Blueprint labels] 18" TORSION SHAFTS RUBBER This has not reached a production stage as yet, in fact I should think it is a good way off. (I) The stabiliser they use adds 70% to the rate of the rear suspension in roll. O.{Mr Oldham} finds it necessary to allow for 4" rebound. He gets better results for taking sharp corners at low speeds by over correcting the Acherman geometry; i.e., he makes the inside wheel turn even more than usual relative to the other wheel. The coil springs are made of silico manganese. Ground on external dia. they are stressed to 100,000 at max. bump (average stress) or 120,000 on inside of the coil. | ||
