X4117 49/591 [Struck Through] c. to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} By/Cgh.{W Clough}1/EB.30.7.31. Re : Chassis 65-GX - C. Cochrane, Esq., With reference to C7/C.28.7.31, we do not think that the works will have in stock a Radiator with indented tubes for the above chassis, as it is a M.2 series type, but one could be put in hand immediately they resume work on Tuesday next. The tubes which we propose to fit will be our present standard type, now being used on N.2 series. According to the tests made by the Experimental Dept, it would appear that the temperature is almost 6°C lower than with the plain tube as fitted on the above chassis. The most efficient tubes are of course the small hexagon U.S.A. type, but [REDACTED] we have none in stock. We have seen your memo to the Experimental Dept. in connection with this matter, and no doubt they will say whether they consider that a Radiator with the present standard indented tubes, will keep Mr. Cochrane out of trouble or not, before we instruct the Works to produce a new Radiator.
