J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} W. JOHNSON, SECY. & TREAS. Sept. 16, 1925. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Nightingale Road Derby, England. Attn - Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hines Gentlemen: We are today in receipt of your letter of August 20th in which you are requesting information concerning our Kingston Oil-Vac System. You will appreciate, gentlemen, that Oil-Vac is different from any of the usual types of fuel feeding systems in that we use, instead of the common use of the suction from the intake manifold, suction that is taken from a specially constructed pump which is a part of the system, taking this suction from the circulating flow of oil. It is needless, we feel, to explain that there are many advantages: First, it entirely eliminates the variation which is experienced in manifold suction of the lowest suction at highest engine speed or wide open throttle. Furthermore it acts as a safety factor in connection with a low oil supply. On account of our taking the suction from the circulating flow of oil, if at any time thru carelessness or otherwise the operator of a car equipped with an Oil-Vac System should forget to provide the proper amount of lubricating oil and run it until the oil supply reached the point of danger the car will stop for lack of fuel, rather than burning up, as is the case in many instances, bearings. As it is necessary for us to get information in the way of details regarding just where and how an oil pump WORLDS LARGEST CARBURETOR MANUFACTURERS | ||
