SALES DIRECTOR'S OFFICE. 25th June, 1932.

Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd.,
DERBY.

Attention of Mr. H.E.West.

Dear Sirs,

We hasten to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 24th June, Ref. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.4/AD., We have discussed the question of dials with our Instrument Engineer following on your conversation with our Mr. Manwaring early this week.

We understand that you are not entirely satisfied with the colour of the dials and that the figures are too heavy. After, however, making a comparison with the examples which we had the pleasure of submitting for your approval, we find that our bulk production compares quite favourably, but apparently you have changed your views.

In the circumstances it will be necessary to experiment with certain hand-finished dials before we can arrive at a satisfactory solution and, therefore, we are afraid that it is impossible to promise them on Tuesday. We are urging our Works to give this matter special attention. Meantime, we take it you are agreeable to re-imbursing us for the extra cost of additional dies and work in connection with this matter?

Yours faithfully,
For S.SMITH & SONS (Motor Accessories) LIMITED.

SALES DIRECTOR.
