8 CYLINDER - BENTLEY 50.

Herewith drawings PD.162, PD.170 and PD.177.

The middle four cylinders and that portion of the crankcase contiguous thereto are common on both engines.

The aft end facing is exactly similar to the six.

The journals are same as six, with the addition of two more, making nine.

The induction system is new because we have to use a twin pipe and duplex carburetter to give satis-factory distribution on an eight.

The exhaust manifold is similar, but elongated to take another exit.

The oil pump drive and suction intake are just the same, we may find that the pump is small, if so we can reduce the helix angle to compensate.

The camshaft bearings start at the aft end the same diameter as the six, but since there are more bearings and each one is stepped up in size, the front one will be greater.

The wheelcase facing is similar, but that portion which carries the engine mounting is deleted. The Oldsmobile engine mounting will most likely be chosen.

Water pump and fan will now be combined, one belt only to drive the generator and fan.
