Briefly, therefore, if we put the shims right and increase the oil supply to the rear main bearing, it will give us breathing space to carry on with the main bearing alloy development. With regard to the Trials car, we are rebuilding this with standard parts because the only available set of new shims is required for experimental test bench work at the moment, and Sales are asking for the car back. The improved lubrication means a new bearing cap. Shims, when available, can be fitted to the Trials car by merely removing the bottom half and taking the conn. rods out - work which can be done under our supervision at Kingsbury.
