COACHBUILDERS ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES.

Whilst at Chateauroux I had a conversation with Mr. Lee-Evans of Lillie Hall on the car electrical fittings from the coachbuilders' point of view.

He was pleased to note the provision of an accessory fuse box on the S.S. chassis but wished that some similar device could be fitted at the rear of the frame to facilitate connecting up rear body lights, cigar lighters, etc. He said that although coachbuilders' wiring seemed to us very crude (pieces of flex attached to the ammeter, etc.) it would sometimes involve an inordinate amount of work to make proper connections.

He thought several detail modifications were desirable which would be greatly appreciated by owners and chauffeurs without adding to the cost, e.g. the tail lamp wire leading from the frame to the tail lamp itself could be stowed away so that it would not be damaged when cleaning the car.

Mr. Lee-Evans wished that someone at Derby conversant with the work could pay a visit to London when he would be glad of the opportunity of showing him round several coachbuilders establishments to demonstrate the points he wishes to raise.
