Position of Valves and Cylinder Heads for Chassis Units.

Bentley.

Head which broke an exhaust valve during the high power development to be cleaned up and fitted with new valves.

Valves are Ex. 21948 exhaust KE.965 stellited.
Ex. 21968 Inlet valves.
Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 53 valve springs.

This head is to be used on B-19 in conjunction with special high power camshafts.

A second high power head is being progressed Ex. 22594 similar to that running endurance on B-3 unit.

Inlet valves to Ex. 21968 in KE.965.

Exhaust valves Rs.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary} 276 dependent upon B-3 endurance, will be either stellited or non stellited.

Cylinder head for B-22 which is the next unit for France is to have new design of exhaust valve, instructions during the next day or so.

This head is also to be deturbulated, LeC.5002.

There are 2 cylinder heads on the assembly job to EB.1237, 1 in alum. with inserts and 1 in cast iron.

These require finishing for comparison for detonation.

Phantom III.

Exhaust valves have been made in S-80 material with reduced guide clearance to be fitted to No. 10 unit in 33-EX, as soon as convenient, in conjunction with the special camshaft Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}44 which is running without silent tappets.
