The Works Committee met on this subject today and for the following reasons, decided that the experts of Lucas' should be asked to come to Derby on Monday next to discuss matters with Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}, Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}, BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}, Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, and EFC. and that a further meeting of the Works Committee should be held on Tuesday next to give the final opinion of Works on this subject. (1) Lucas' have been doing our work for two years now and have got to know our ways and wants, and during that time have produced three types of Dynamo for us, a silent room on our behalf for testing, and also have always been extremely willing to try and carry out our wishes. (2) A new type of Dynamo from them an inch longer, has just been received, and only tested this morning for the first time. EFC. says the curve is a great improvement and he thinks that after the conference on Monday with Lucas' we can expect that a satisfactory result may be obtained in the future. (3) If we were to leave Lucas right now, it would not only be very costly to R.R. through stuff on hand, and already in production by Lucas, but would probably end in a law suit which might be unfavourable to us, whereas if we could get satisfaction from them there is not much doubt but that they would take back all the stuff we have on hand, and which is in production for us. | ||
