I am a little concerned to know that 26.G. will not reach us for about a week, as we only had enough time in our view to get the car really nice for the work for which we require it if we received it on the date mentioned in my memo. to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} of 29th July, viz., 1st September.

My fear is that this work which Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} says is required to be done in order to bring the engine up to the very latest specification (with which of course we are in entire agreement) will extend into ten days or two weeks before we get the car, and that will very materially interfere with our chances of getting it into proper condition for the date of the announcement.

I would therefore ask you to urge with all possible speed the necessary work on this chassis, and to let us have the car as quickly as you can.
