P. FROM EA. ORIGINAL C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WH. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} I. EA/BYL/W9.5.32. X5400. X4531 J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. LUGGAGE CARRIER AND REAR APRON. We send herewith W. schemes 3445/6/7, showing the luggage carrier and rear apron for J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. The design of this grid enclosed in the apron we have been working on since last autumn, after discussions with Sales and their remarks on the clean rear appearance of the 2H.P.Sunbeam. We have not seen a case of a full size and complete grid enclosed in an apron, and our efforts have been centred on providing one. We have developed the folding arm grid of EEAL. and given it 3 cross bars so that the resultant carrier is equivalent to the one we now use. the lid{A. J. Lidsey} of the apron forms the body guard rail. The apron is made in 4 pieces welded up. The inside valance of the rear wing passes under the edge of the apron. On W. sch. 3447. we show a means whereby the grid and apron can be fitted to the first car, which will not have the necessary boss on the dumbiron. We are anxious to get this grid and apron on the first car to enable Sales to see what we have achieved, and to enable us to have a model so that both yourselves and ourselves may consider any improvements in the design. We are arranging for Park Ward's to make the wings to suit. Please supply us with 3 prints of each drawing. EA. | ||
