EFC X7791 Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}/McM4/T16.6.27. X7791 Sleeveless Watford Magneto EFC6/T10.6.27. We return herewith magneto No.98201. We have completed our tests of this. It has not got the heavy sleeve knock, but the make and break is decidedly noisy, there is also a very bad brush squeak. We do not consider this magneto is a great deal better than the standard magneto which we now pass. In connection with this magneto we should like to point out that it appears to have been hurriedly erected, as the distributor timing is one or two teeth out, and the oil hole cap spring has been trapped between the distributor and the magneto, preventing the two from bedding properly.
