25370 To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}2/KW. 28.11.34. Servo Operating Cams - Bentley & 25 HP. We have carried out tests which have shown us that there is considerable journal friction in the Bentley and 25 HP. Servo Cams, and that a very useful improvement is obtained by locating the cams by the ball thrust bearings only. The attached drawing Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1631 shows a modification to the cams on the above lines. Will you please detail this and construct 2 pairs of cams with 45° angle and 2 pairs with 35° angle, so that we can give these cams some running on the road to see whether the extra load imposed on the balls causes undue wear. The chassis to which we want these cams fitted depends upon when the cams are available. If possible we should like to fit one of the pairs of 35° cams to E.R. Hall's car, chassis B-35-AE.
