Contd -2- EFC3/T12.5.20. The motor might perhaps be fitted in the chassis where the engine would be or in some other suitable place. We feel that this would be the best scheme ultimately, and we think that steps should be taken to obtain a suitable motor of about 4 HP. wound for 100, or failing that, 200 volts, also to obtain the necessary resistances for regulating the speed. It would be necessary to have a field regulating resistance and also an armature regulating resistance, so that the combination of the two would produce almost any desired speed in the working range. We do not appear to have anything on the premises, either in the way of motors or resistances, which are suitable for the job and at the same time can be spared from other work. The 4 HP. motor would, of course, not require current anything like to the extent of its full power and therefore could be supplied by a generator of smaller size. Regarding regulating resistances, we are asking the O.O. to send out enquiries for suitable resistances, as we ourselves shall be requiring more of these in the near future. EFC. | ||
