- 5 - France very satisfactorily, but again slipping was experienced when driving through London traffic. Clutch Pedal. ------------------- GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} complained that the rocking of the engine on its rubber mounting caused considerable movements of the clutch pedal. He said that as a result there was little margin of pedal movement left to look after the wear of the lining. It was not thought that the geometry of the pedals was such that this would occur. Experimental Department have agreed to demonstrate this. Loss of Engine Oil Pressure. -------------------------------------- GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} explained that he had stopped up two holes in the front cross web of the bottom half crankcase and by so doing had overcome the loss of oil pressure when the brakes were applied. Design Department are to look into this and also see whether it is possible to increase the height of the cross web. Oil leaks into clutch pit. -------------------------------- GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} explained that the oil leaks reported from the rear main bearing actually took place between the joint of the top and bottom half crankcases near the rear main bearing felt oil retainer. The joint at this position is very narrow and is inadequate. Design department agreed to look into this matter. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} also stated that the acme thread of the oil thrower on 21-G-IV was not arranged correctly. Design Dept. are investigating this. Air Silencer Brackets. --------------------------- The failure of the air silencer support bracket was discussed and Design Department will issue a bracket to overcome this trouble. Exhaust Valve Seats. -------------------------- GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} stated that the inner diameter of the exhaust valve seats was too small. The hammering of the valves caused a step to be formed on the seat. Design Department have agreed to look into this. | ||
