Phantom III Brakes.

We have fitted the sheet metal stops made to R.Sch.4915 to 33-EX and 34-EX, and on the same cars the modification to prevent the foul between bell crank lever and pivot cap nut (R.Sch.2964) was carried out. No rattles or clanks occurred. The braking could hardly be considered entirely satisfactory, the stopping distance of 34-EX from 30 mph. being 40 feet.

We are not in favour of standardising these stops (until we are satisfied as to their durability) unless the new bell crank lever with the proper boss to hit the sheet metal stop (G.8495/1) is fitted at the same time: but we can see no reason why Barclay's car should not be temporarily fitted with the stop alone.
