| S/W. {Sales / Derby Works} Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} re- 34-EX. CxIO/KW4.11.35. We have now put on to this car the tyres which were fitted to 35-EX at the end of last week. After trying them in and around London I think we can safely say they are as good as any we have yet tried, although there is much to be desired yet by way of improvement in tyre noises on this car. It is definitely noiser on tyres than 35-EX. We have however so far satisfactorily explained to people, who have queried the noise, just what the causes are, and it is for the other reasons associated with 35-EX that we have decided to keep 34 for demonstration. The fact remains, however, that this car is in need of decarbonising and pinks quite appreciably now when accelerating until a speed of over 30 m.p.h. is attained. We feel that we ought to get this car decarbonised at the earliest convenient opportunity, and the point is who will do it. Should we send it to N. in the ordinary way, or do you consider that it must go back to the Works ? We are very anxious that during the process of decarbonisation nothing shall be done to alter the carburation, which at the moment is quite good. If this car must come to the Works for this operation, can you tell us how long it would take, and do you think you could conveniently let us have either 33-EX or 35-EX in demonstration car condition while that was being done ? It would of course be a help to us if it were not necessary for the car to return to the Works. Would you please let me have some news from you re this as soon as you can. Cx. {Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} Hives Have since spoken to you on' phone. we will use Ethyl petrol in this car. | ||
