Re Prince of Wales' Car.
Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/M9.1.30.

The Prince of Wales' car will not be used again until he returns in April, so that there is plenty of time.

As regards the last part of your memo. I think there will be no difficulty in bringing Ladbrook back to having the two wheels at the back if you really think it desirable. Certainly Derby's report upon this was very good. The only point I did not like about it was the steering being hard when there is a full load at the back.

It should be borne in mind that when the two wheels are at the back the big luggage box will also be fitted, because it is only when the Prince is going a long journey that he will be carrying the second wheel. He is very pleased with the steering at present, and he was not always pleased with it in comparison with the Bentley and I should not like to risk any loss of his pleasure on the steering.

It therefore really becomes a question of degree. If the hardness of the steering is quite a small matter and therefore the gains in other directions considerably outweigh this, then I should have no objection to suggesting to Ladbrook that he goes back to his original scheme. Do you see any difficulty in designing a bracket to carry these two wheels, bearing in mind that the present luggage box will be pushed " further than it is at present?
