JOHN MARSTON LIMITED, WOLVERHAMPTON. X1280 30th September, 1935. REPORT ON VISIT OF MR. STEADMAN OF ROLLS ROYCE LTD. ON 26/9/35. Mr. Steadman visited our Works with the object of carrying our tests on our Radiator Test Plant to compare the performance of our experimental Mark VI Radiator Core with a similar American Harrison Matrix. He completed the tests and from a preliminary examination of these it appears that the Mark VI is not quite so efficient as the American Matrix. It was agreed that : 1. We should examine an American matrix which Rolls Royce propose forwarding to us. 2. To improve our Mark VI to the standard of the American matrix. (Note. There is a slight difference in the two matrices which can be rectified upon examination under Note 1). 3. To give Rolls Royce a curve of heat dissipation against air speed within the range available in our plant with an 84 mm. Mark VI test block, 2 square feet frontal area, and also with a 52 mm. matrix of the same frontal area. 4. All sample and test matrices must be tinned with .006" waterways and .004" air ways.
