Mr Wormald Recd. 27/3/12. Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence. 18th March.1912 Technical Committee. Explosions in Silencers. One easy way we could arrange that the driver could avoid these when running down hill would be as follows - Make the engine governor control lever slack all the tension off the governor spring in a position of 1/4 from the bottom. X93 [Handwritten annotation next to diagram] instead of speed all bottom. [Handwritten annotation on diagram] no speed Then provide an air valve on the induction pipe, say, a small mushroom type, opening inwards and held to its seat by a spring just sufficiently strong to resist the vacuum, 13 lbs per sq. inch; then couple the hand control shown so that this air valve is open when hand control is at "A" This suggestion is not automatic but is quite a feasible scheme. For an automatic scheme I give another sheet. F.H.R. R'R' CPY. 101 B: 11:(20M) 8:11: C1659 | ||
