Handwritten: G.W.H - Can you get the Curve of oil consumption improvement for these two cars Am Stamped: S/W. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} C. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. " Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Typed: GUL - London Trials. We note that this car is not fitted with 'L' shaped rings. The car at present is averaging 1,280 m.p.g. of oil as against GUL-82 which is averaging 1,040 m.p.g., and which car is as you know fitted with 'L' shaped rings. In these circumstances we do not think it is necessary or desirable to go to the expense of dismantling this engine to fit the 'L' shaped rings, and we consider it might be more interesting to run these two cars as they are and get comparative results over a lengthy period. If you have any alternative suggestion to make re this arrangement perhaps you will kindly let us know. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} LwB | ||
