Complaints of excessive oil consumption in Bentley chassis and proposed piston ring solutions.

BENTLEY CHASSIS. --------------------- Further to our Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SB{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}11/HR. 28.10.35., we confirm the arrangements made verbally this morning, namely, that in the case of cars fitted with Rolls-Royce pistons we should use the wide groove scraper ring, EB.514. This has a land width of .032" instead of .050" as at present. We are therefore ordering up a quantity of these rings for use when dealing with these complaints. With regard to the Aerolite pistons we shall be glad to hear from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} what improvement in the oil consumption has been effected by fitting the wider groove Aerolite piston rings to Captain Barnato's car.
