re COMPLAINTS OF
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION.
BENTLEY CHASSIS.
---------------------

Further to our Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SB{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}11/HR. 28.10.35., we confirm the arrangements made verbally this morning, namely, that in the case of cars fitted with Rolls-Royce pistons we should use the wide groove scraper ring, EB.514.

This has a land width of .032" instead of .050" as at present.

We are therefore ordering up a quantity of these rings for use when dealing with these complaints.

With regard to the Aerolite pistons we shall be glad to hear from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} what improvement in the oil consumption has been effected by fitting the wider groove Aerolite piston rings to Captain Barnato's car.

If these results are satisfactory we would like to get a quantity made for use on cars with Aerolite pistons.
