Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hives,
Rolls Royce, Limited,
Derby, England.

My dear Hives:

Some men from Mechanics Machine Company were here the other day and mentioned that they would be interested to see drawings of the two R.{Sir Henry Royce} R.{Sir Henry Royce} joints made under their patents.

Would it be permitted, do you think, for me to have a couple (Phantom and 25 h.p.)?

Happy New Year.

Sincerely,
Maurice Olley

We had assumed there were no patents & had not therefore made any attempt to approach the Mechanics concern.
Will confirm we have no license
