To EJJ. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} 1209 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}1/MH.{M. Huckerby}14.7.38. NO. 5 TEST HOUSE. We stated in our memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}3/MH.{M. Huckerby}26.1.38 that the installation of the B.60 engine on the present Ph.III bed should be taken into consideration at the time the above test house was renovated. According to the latest information we expect to get the first experimental B.60 engine during September, will you therefore make the necessary drawings and instruct for the bed to be ready to receive the above engine on test at this time. Attached is the requisition form 6432/B to cover the job. The first engine to be produced will not be up-to-date with design, therefore although the suspension should be a reliable job it will be a waste of money to go in for castings etc. and should accordingly be built up from channel irons etc. In order to be of assistance to you our requirements for this first engine are as follows. (1) Front Engine Mounting. To be taken from the mounting face on the wheelcase EB.3780. (2) Rear Engine Mounting. To be taken from rear face of crankcase EB.3778 utilising the three studs holes on each side for the support arms. Distance between front and rear supports to match up with crankcase plus the thickness of the wheelcase. (3) Exhaust connections to match up with the double outlet manifold EOD.398. (4) Starting handle with support bracket as clutch case and its support for starter motor will not be available. | ||
