23469 To EJJ. c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW.1.11.34. K.10 Car Unit Test House. This Test House has never been in a really satisfactory condition owing to the fact that we have been anticipating getting other accommodation. It is now apparent that we shall have to use it for at least another 12 months, and it is therefore essential that we should put it in decent condition. The brake on the Bentley test bed is quite unfit for the high speed research running which we are doing. It would be quite satisfactory for production work but we are running up to 5,000 r.p.m. and it is neither safe nor reliable at these speeds. We should be glad if you could replace it. We are doing no further work on Phantoms, will you please therefore convert the Phantom test bed into a 20/25. The brake on this bed is satisfactory. We have no facilities for storing reports, drawings etc. Will you therefore please supply a cut metal cupboard desk, as supplied to other test houses. Other work that requires attention is as follows :- (1) Painting and whitewashing throughout. (2) Repair roof and windows and clean same. (3) Overhaul electrical system (overhead and test bed). (4) Standing boards for work benches. (5) 1 "U" tube board (Aero design). (6) 1 "Jaegar" rev. counter with drive and couplings. (7) Desk to be repaired. | ||
