Copies to J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} for Mr. Ellis, Mr. Stent, and El. [Text in left margin: 2238] Re Revolution Indicator. The Admiralty have instructed us to arrange for making six sets of continuous current revolution Indicators in connection with Western Duplex Voltmeters. We intend to wind these the same as previously, and to run them by a small chain drive from the magneto coupling. They will thus runnat twice the previous speed, namely the same speed as the crank shaft, which will enable the magneto to give twice the electromotive force, and, therefore, permit a larger amount of resistance to be inserted in the circuit. We think it will be found that they will read more correctly under these circumstances. We are at the moment waiting the larger size double voltmeter from the Western Co. We are not sure whether the Works have got a separate single one or the larger size - type B. 2 ? Regarding the vibrator type of revolution Indicator, it is understood that the Admiralty wish us to experiment with this type to see whether we can produce a more efficient and suitable [text struck through] instrument than the one which we have seen which is considered to be inefficient by them.
