R.R. 199 (500 H) (SD. 296. 15.8.17) M.P. 176549. X4262 E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}4/LG24.3.22. D.F.P. CAR. Referring to your received this morning and which we have replied to as follows:- "ELLIOTT, D.F.P. CHASSIS LEAVING HERE MONDAY CALLING AT MESSRS BENTLEYS AND SHOULD ARRIVE WEST WITTERINGHenry Royce's home town TUESDAY NOON HANCOCK BRINGING ALL PARTICULARS". We were not satisfied with the performance of this car as the carburation seemed hopeless. At the same time, we do not wish to make any alterations or adjustments to the car, but rather let you have the car in the same condition as they consider is their standard. We have arranged, therefore, for Mr. Hancock to call at Messrs. Bentleys, London, Monday after-noon for the purpose of giving them the opportunity of tuning up the car, stating that the car is up to their standard, and for him to then proceed to W.W. The delivery of this chassis has, unfortunately, been delayed owing to the "lock-out" and the completion of the body seats. We also thought it necessary, before delivering the chassis, to have a dynamometer test, particulars of which will be supplied to you by Mr. Hancock. The present licence for this car runs out on the 25th.inst., but we are given to understand that the licence actually runs for another month or more and it will be quite in order for this car to be run with the present numbers and licence plate. Mr. Hancock, however, will supply you with full information about this on arrival. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
