Item.
Approx. 10% Weight reduction.
Remarks.

Brought Forward
166.2 lbs.

Body, (The weight of this body is not known, but a weight adduced after taking into consideration all the known items on 1-RT-1 is 1,050 lbs. i.e., 9 cwt. 1 qr. 14 lb. - this may be a considerable under-estimate).
105.0
It is understood from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RG.{Mr Rowledge} that P.S.C. will be able to reduce the weight of 1,050 lbs. by at least 160 lbs.

Engine and clutch, (at say 450 lbs.)
45.0

Total
316.2

On the items listed below it is hoped that an extra weight saving over the 10% figure quoted above can be reasonably expected :-

Body,
55.0
Rear spare wheel mounting,
21.7
Wheels and tyres,
10.0

402.9

It is obvious from a study of the above figures that the necessary weight reduction cannot be spread evenly throughout the car it being apparent, for instance, that 45 lbs. is an unreasonable figure to take off an already fairly light engine. It is felt, however, that when the designers responsible for the various sections of the chassis have done their best on weight reduction any outstanding surplus weight can be debited against the body.
