FEUERHEERD OIL PUMP. X8160

We have now completed a series of tests with this pump.

It will be appreciated that the tests carried out by the Daimler Co. do not mean very much to us because the dimensions of the gear pump were not given, and from our tests we should say that it must have been relatively much smaller than the Feuerheerd. Also, unless gear pumps are very carefully made, their efficiency is not good.

An extract from some of our tests is given below.

We should condemn the Feuerheerd pump on its suction lift and low speed delivery under pressure.

An advantage of the gear pump is that we obtain a more continuous delivery.

We are returning the two pumps to you.

40/50 HP. V.{VIENNA} Feuerheerd.

(1) 100 r.p.m. Time for 1 gallon.
Pressure. RR. Feuerheerd.
10 lbs/sq. in. 4 min. 3" 4 min. 50"
40 lbs/sq. in. 4 " 4" 4 " 50"
60 lbs/sq. in. 4 " 6" 4 " 58"
100 lbs/sq. in. 4 " 6" 4 " 58"

(2) Speed at which pump will just deliver oil at 100 lbs/sq. in. pressure :-
30 r.p.m. 80 r.p.m.

(3) Suction lift of 44" - delivery commences at :-
50 r.p.m. 80 r.p.m.

(4) Delivery 1000 rp.m. 100 lbs/sq. in. pressure :-
.69 gals/min. .61 gals/min.

All tests taken with Prices Motorine 'C' 20°C.
Feuerheerd pump slightly more silent under contd :-
