1381 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}4/MR.29.4.38. MINUTES OF CHASSIS CONFERENCE HELD 29th. APRIL 1938. Present:- By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Hdy.{William Hardy} By/NS.{Norman Scott} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} (1) Die Castings. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} pointed out that certain die castings had been released to wheeler whereas it was expected that the parts would be altered. By/NS.{Norman Scott} would look into how this had occurred. (2) P.III Clutch. The works have already been told that the fly-wheel and clutch would not be altered before 'M' series. Before then a car will have gone to France with the new flexible flywheel suitable for the Wraith type starter motor. (3) P.III Crankcase. The modified casting incorporating deletion of the oil cooler will go on production as soon as possible. An experimental engine will then be prepared fitted with the clutch in (2) above, higher speed dynamo, bypass filter, bottom tappets ECD.635, and wider crank journals. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} will say whether details for the latter can be made in time. (4) P.III Tappets. The Experimental Dept. are to find out from RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} whether he can effect an economy by introducing Psn. valve gear LeC.5667 before the end of 'D' series. (5) Bentley Overdrive Gearbox. Provided parts have not already been made it was agreed to harden the second and third motion shafts on 'M' series gearboxes. | ||
