Extract from Memo. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} to CJ. PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL. TO DIRECTORS ONLY. . . . . . . . . To CJ. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} . . . . . . . R1/M 30/11/23 My dear CJ., . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Regarding the increased weight and dimensions suggested for the Goshawk bodies I have already expressed my views of any increase being suicidal - (1) Bad for the R.R. reputation, (2) chassis not able to carry it, (3) bad for our big car trade. Better smash it up. It is just what we ought not to do. What Goshawk wants I believe is £200 off the cost to the purchaser of the chassis, £200 of the body. We cannot expect to find many customers for 20 HP cars at the price these are quoted complete. Yours ever, (in sadness) R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
