TO E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} FROM Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Replacement 20/25. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}17/E9.2.34 Copy to W.H.s. Referring to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}2/E6.2.34 under the heading of Essex Terraplane, this is to confirm my conversation with you to the effect that I agree to your designing, with a view to our making, a small 12-cylinder engine, on the definite understanding that such work will not in any way be allowed to interfere with the designing and manufacture of the straight 8. I presume that this 12-cylinder will be to the same litre capacity as the 20/25 of to-day which in one of your recent memos indicated a tax of £30. I should not feel that we were doing right in having an engine with a higher tax than that for this car. I was very pleased indeed to see that the straight 8 was already taking shape on your drawing board. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
